Epic Universe roller coasters guide with height requirements, videos, lore
Discover the roller coasters of Epic Universe: Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Curse of the Werewolf, Mine-Cart Madness, and Stardust Racers.

Coming to Orlando
Universal Epic Universe’s abundance of roller coasters are possibly some of its most anticipated attractions. The new theme park — opening on May 22, 2025 at Universal Orlando — will have four roller coasters on its Opening Day, matching the number of coasters at its sibling parks, Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure.
Whether you’re looking for something family-friendly, or you’re the adrenaline junkie in the bunch, there’s something for everybody among the coasters of Epic Universe. Let’s take a look at all of them, complete with artwork from Universal Destinations & Experiences and aerial photography by bioreconstruct.
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders | Epic Universe roller coaster
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

“We, my friends, have dragons!” How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk is home to four attractions, but today we’ll focus on Hiccup’s Wing Gliders. This family-friendly coaster is for younger Vikings ready to soar with Hiccup and Toothless.
From Hiccup’s workshop comes his latest contraption: a winged flying machine that launches aspiring Dragon Riders into the air, swooping and soaring and encountering Hiccup and Toothless along the way. Get ready to board Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, a fun coaster that invites Vikings to prove they’re brave enough to speed through the sky with dragons.
Universal Destinations & Experiences
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders has a minimum height requirement of 40 inches, and guests looking to ride alone must reach a height of 48 inches.

In the aerial photo below, the load station is the structure with the blue roof. The wood-like structure below that is the spot of the roller coaster’s first launch.

An animatronic version of Toothless will greet guests with a smile before they launch!

On your flight, you will encounter baby Gronckles, hatching right before you launch again. Fun fact: Universal has said that a Gronckle eggshell on this attraction weighs as much as 84 chicken eggs!

Curse of the Werewolf | Epic Universe roller coaster
Dark Universe

Dark Universe is a highly anticipated land based on the Universal Classic Monsters, updated with looks for a modern-day audience. Universal says of Dark Universe, “Explore a village ravaged by the wrath of unearthly creatures and the monstrous experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein. Dark Universe is a shadowy world where the unknown lurks around every corner.” The roller coaster in this land is a spinning coaster known as Curse of the Werewolf.
Maleva, leader of The Guild of Mystics, welcomes you to a secluded wagon camp. Here you’re warned of the creatures who prowl the deep woods. Before long you’re riding Curse of the Werewolf — surrounded by glowing eyes and gnashing teeth, you’ll spin and weave through the forest as you attempt to escape a pack of werewolves.
Universal Destinations & Experiences
Guests hoping to speed through the Werewolf’s forest must be 40 inches tall. This coaster will reach speeds of 37 mph and go for two minutes long!
You’ll speed past a bloodthirsty werewolf hiding in the ceiling of a shed, trying to take a bite out of guests!

Mine-Cart Madness | Epic Universe roller coaster
Super Nintendo World

Super Nintendo World is home to possibly the most family-friendly roller coaster in Epic Universe. Mine-Cart Madness replicates the iconic (and incredibly frustrating!) mine-cart levels from the “Donkey Kong Country” series of video games.
It’s up to you to help Donkey Kong protect the Golden Banana on Mine-Cart Madness. Enter the majestic Golden Temple, board your mine cart, and take off in this thrilling family coaster. Speeding through the mine, you’ll appear to jump across gaps in the track and perform other eye-popping feats from the “Donkey Kong Country” video games.
Universal Destinations & Experiences
The minimum height requirement for Mine-Cart Madness is 36 inches, with guests 48 inches and above being able to ride on their own. With familiar faces and a semi-low thrill level, this roller coaster could serve as a great introduction to thrill rides for little ones.

Stardust Racers | Epic Universe roller coaster
Celestial Park

Celestial Park is home to Stardust Racers, a dual-launch coaster on which riders will race another train!
Share a race across the cosmos on Stardust Racers, a breathtaking, dual-launch coaster reaching incredible speeds up to 62 mph. Board a comet and rocket to the furthest reaches of the stars at heights up to 133 feet along 5,000 feet of track. Race along an inverted crisscross, known as the “Celestial Spin” in a dazzling display of blazing colors and ethereal music.
Universal Destinations & Experiences
The minimum height for this attraction will be 48 inches, the tallest height requirement of any Epic Universe roller coasters — meaning it will probably be the most thrilling of the four coasters in the park.
At nighttime, the coaster itself will have no external lighting, meaning the trains racing along the track will look like comets shooting across the sky!

This coaster has been testing for quite some time now.
