Ride review | Yoshi’s Adventure at Epic Universe is family fun at a slow pace

Within Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe, hop aboard Yoshi for an adventure guests of all ages will enjoy … even if our review is longer than the attraction itself.

Yoshi’s Adventure invites guests of all ages to slow down and take in the sights of Super Nintendo World aboard a wide variety of colorful Yoshis! Along the way, you’ll be on the lookout for colorful eggs while avoiding some of Bowser’s minions!

Fun for everyone

Despite its slow pace, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on Yoshi’s Adventure. If you’re a fan of Nintendo and the “Super Mario” series of video games, you’ll love coming face to face with enemies seen in the games. Inside Epic Universe, there’s not a ton for little ones to do, so the kiddos will love to be included in a very lighthearted ride. It’s nice to just sit back and relax in the middle of a busy day at Universal Orlando’s newest theme park.

Pick up the pace, Yoshi!

We know this is a kids-focused ride, and we have no problem with slow rides. Looking around and noticing the hidden details on a peaceful trek through Mushroom Kingdom has been a dream of ours since Epic Universe was first announced. Yoshi’s Adventure however, is extremely slow … like, as slow as Flash, the sloth from “Zootopia.” The slow movement drags out the attraction’s short track length.

Yoshi’s Adventure is perfect for those who meet the 34-inch height requirement, but it’s unfortunate that it needs a height requirement at all. For a ride that moves so slow, in a park that’s lacking in experiences for children, why do guests need to be 34 inches tall to ride? Our guess is the restraint won’t fit smaller children. That being said, a PeopleMover-type seating situation (just a flat bench inside the ride vehicle) would’ve allowed those who don’t quite measure up to ride.

But the restraints on Yoshi’s Adventure are pretty neat! They have buttons corresponding to the colorful Yoshi eggs you’re looking for on your adventure. When they light up, it signifies that egg is nearby! You’ll press the right button and at the end (if you have a Super Nintendo World Power-Up Band) receive virtual rewards for your findings.

Final thoughts

Fans of Nintendo and kids of all ages, even kids at heart, will find Yoshi’s Adenture adorable. We can’t wait to experience this attraction at night to fully take in Super Nintendo World’s lighting package. That being said, you’ll probably walk off and say, “That was cute!” and never give it a second thought. It doesn’t leave a lasting impression on you.
