Don’t miss your chance to experience Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure through February 16
If you haven’t yet checked out the Lunar New Year offerings at Disney California Adventure, you still have a bit more time as this annual event is running now through February 16, 2025. This year they celebrate the Year of the Snake with new food offerings, entertainment, décor and more.
Don’t miss the chance to see Mickey & Minnie in their all-new outfits. Their new costumes feature flowers and patterns common in Korean culture. All of the fabrics used in the creation of the costumes were sourced directly from Korea. Also available for meet & greet opportunities are Meilen Lee and her mother Ming Lee from “Turning Red”.
During this limited time celebration tributing Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean traditions, you can sample more than 40 new food and beverage items, plus returning favorites. Some of the new items include the pho dip, scallion pancake tostada and tropical coconut cooler. They also have a nice variety of spicy foods in the Asian inspired menu with a Disney twist. If you’d like to sample multiple food items during your visit, the best way is to purchase a Sip and Savor pass which can save you money overall when used strategically. This year’s Sip and Savor pass has three different designs by artist Ann Shen. One features Mickey & Minnie, another features Donald & Daisy, and the third features Goofy & Clarabelle, all in their Lunar New Year wardrobe.
Entertainment offerings during Lunar New Year include Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession, honoring family and friendship for a fortune-filled new year. When the sun sets, don’t miss the Lunar New Year pre-show, Hurry Home, before World of Color – ONE. Join Mulan and friends as they celebrate family and friends. Set to a musical score by Academy Award®-winning composer Tan Dun, it tells the story of a little lantern’s quest to reunite with family for the annual celebration of good luck and fortune.
In addition to all of this, guests can take part in activities at Paradise Gardens including Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, as well as sharing messages of joy on the Lunar New Year Wishing Wall. There’s also live music and entertainment to be found in Paradise Gardens and beyond in Disney California Adventure.
The entertainment continues beyond the park over at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. There you’ll find a confectionery display in the Great Hall highlighting the Year of the Snake. You may also catch live performance groups on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays, or “Story Time with Mulan” on Mondays and Saturdays.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper celebration without some specialty merchandise. The Year of the Snake and lantern details, representing each of the three cultures that celebrate Lunar New Year, can be found all over the merchandise collection including sweatshirts, mugs, mouse ears and more.
