Best of Baby Bakso, the tiger cub at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Baby Bakso the Sumatran tiger cub is the newest resident at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Caution: cuteness ahead.

Sohni, a longtime resident of Animal Kingdom, gave birth to baby Bakso in September 2024. Following a period of bonding time backstage, Bakso debuted in Animal Kingdom’s tiger habitat on Jan. 29, 2025.

Guests can see baby Bakso at Maharajah Jungle Trek, the walking trail in the park’s Asia section near Kali River Rapids. Other animals in the attraction include gibbons, elk deer, a Komodo dragon, and Malayan flying foxes.

Disney invited Attractions Magazine to visit Animal Kingdom at dawn to see baby Bakso’s first steps into his guest-facing habitat. Take a look at the milestone moment in our video below, which also includes interviews with Animal Keeper Erika Huffstodt and Zoological Manager Rachel Daneault:
Bakso was quite popular during his first few days in the habitat, with reported wait times of two hours to see him, according to Evan Patel on X.
After a few days, seeing baby Bakso became more manageable, according to Brooke McDonald on X.
MouseSteps.com visited baby Bakso on Feb. 18 and said, “There was no line when we visited … but there were quite a few guests crowding around the viewing areas.”
Leading up to baby Bakso’s debut, Disney hosted “Tiger TV Tuesdays” on YouTube, sharing the progress of Bakso and Sohni backstage in their animal care facilities.
