Discovery Meadow: Kentucky Kingdom to open new park section on May 10
Discovery Meadow, Kentucky Kingdom’s new $11-million, family-friendly land, will include three new rides, a shaded playground, and more.
The area will open May 10, 2025 at the Louisville-based theme park.
Discovery Meadow will feature several new and updated attractions, including:
- Redbird Racer: a spinning flat ride designed to look like Kentucky’s state bird
- Scout’s Squirrel Race: a bouncing flat ride, featuring Discovery Meadow’s new mascot, Scout the Squirrel
- Cumberland Express: a family-friendly train ride through the park’s wilderness area
- Games Garden: a new selection of Kentucky-themed games
- a 4,800-square-foot shaded playground to beat the summer sun
- four photo opportunity spots

The new area also includes two new themed dining experiences, two new retail locations, and shaded seating locations throughout.
Kentucky Kingdom themed Discovery Meadow after “the spirit of Kentucky” with the state’s local culture. Games Garden, for example, features classic yard games with a Kentucky twist.
“Discovery Meadow is the most exciting addition to Kentucky Kingdom in years, and we can’t wait for
families to experience this incredible land,” said Sarah Worrell, meneral Manager of Kentucky Kingdom.
No further details have been announced about what the new area’s expansions will include in the next few years.
Discovery Meadow and Kentucky Kingdom Theme and Water Park officially opens May 10, 2025, but season passholders can get an exclusive first look at the park’s new section on May 9.
