Harry Potter Chicago store and Butterbeer bar opening April 2025
Following the success of Harry Potter New York, Warner Bros. Discovery will open Harry Potter Shop Chicago on April 10, 2025.
Witches and wizards will frequent the Chicago Magnificent Mile shopping district starting in April. In fact, we suspect many “Muggles” will begin visiting the Magnificent Mile when Harry Potter Shop Chicago opens on April 10, 2025. It might be time for Wizarding World fans to book that trip to Chicago.
Harry Potter Shop Chicago will be located at 676 N Michigan Avenue. This is below the Omni Hotel Chicago. Guests visiting this Wizarding World store can also enjoy seeing the classic downtown Chicago architectural style. Harry Potter Shop Chicago’s exterior is designed to fit that style and pay tribute to it. In this magical store, guests will see several themed areas, exclusive merchandise, “Harry Potter” props, and a Butterbeer Bar, which will be perfect for celebrating Butterbeer Season.

Once inside, Wizarding World fans will notice that the store’s design focuses on the ideas of resilience and rebirth seen in the film, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” To portray that theme, when guests enter the store, they will first see a moving mermaid-stained glass window inspired by the window in the Prefects’ bathroom at Hogwarts in the “Harry Potter” movies. Also, guests will see the iconic Golden Egg from the movie. Hopefully, no one opens the egg outside of water without earplugs.
In addition to the Golden Egg’s reminder of the water trial, other aspects of the Harry Potter Shop Chicago’s interior will bring the three tasks of the Triwizard Tournament to life. Suspended broomsticks “on fire” light up the store as a nod to the dragon challenge and Harry Potter’s method of completing that task.
To commemorate the final challenge of the Triwizard Tournament, a maze-patterned floor leads to the register area. This symbolizes the completion of the tournament and the guests’ shopping journey. Of course, the Goblet of Fire serves as a centerpiece, bringing the overall Wizarding World theme together.

Harry Potter Shop Chicago has more to offer visitors, no matter their magical abilities. Wizarding World of Harry Potter fans of all ages will find something to enjoy in this magical shop. The additional themed areas include:
- Butterbeer Bar: What would a Wizarding World of Harry Potter shop be without some Butterbeer? Harry Potter Shop Chicago houses the largest Butterbeer Bar in the United States of America. It draws inspiration from Chicago-style speakeasies. Guests can sip the classic Butterbeer beverage and enjoy the Chicago-themed Butterscotch Popcorn.
- Confectionery: From Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans to Chocolate Frogs, the Honeydukes-inspired confectionery at this location should satisfy any sweet tooth. It will be filled with a variety of sweet treats. Also, the store will contain an immense interactive jellybean experience.
- Chicago Section: The store will feature a selection of Chicago-exclusive wizarding world merchandise, including items like a Chicago bear, Spirit Jersey, pins, mug, tote bag, and caps.
- Wizarding World Merchandise: Harry Potter Shop Chicago promises to have everything a Hogwarts student should need, regardless of the four houses they are in. Even Muggles can celebrate a Hogwarts house with themed apparel, accessories, and collectibles. The store also contains a dedicated fitting room. If Hogwarts house merchandise is not your thing, there will be wands, robes, stationery, jewelry, and many other Wizarding World of Harry Potter items to buy and take home. Personalization of merchandise will also be available at this magical store.
- MinaLima Section: Harry Potter Shop Chicago will be home to the United States of America’s second House of MinaLima, the graphic design duo behind the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films.
