The Fast & Furious – Supercharged ride is closing permanently on March 11, 2025 at Universal Studios Hollywood in California.

The attraction’s final operating day is March 10. Universal announced the news on Feb. 24. A replacement, described as “an exciting, all-new Studio Tour attraction,” will be announced “soon.”

The east-coast counterpart of Fast & Furious – Supercharged at Universal Studios Florida remains open with no announced plans of closing.

Hollywood Drift roller coaster

The previously announced Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster is under construction for a 2026 opening at Universal Studios Hollywood. Hollywood Drift will be the park’s first major outdoor coaster (other than Flight of the Hippogriff, a kiddie coaster within The Wizarding World of Harry Potter).

Universal is building the roller coaster with nearby residential neighbors (not to mention its own active productions onsite) in mind, utilizing noise-reduction measures and strategically positioning the track so as to direct riders’ screams away from undesired areas.

The coaster’s ride vehicles will rotate 360 degrees as they’re “catapulted along an aerial track that winds its way over parts of the theme park,” as Universal described in May 2024.

Looking back on Fast & Furious – Supercharged before closing

On the west coast, Fast & Furious – Supercharged is one of several components of Universal Studios Hollywood’s World-Famous Studio Tour tram ride. Other stops include encounters with Jaws and King Kong. During the Fast & Furious segment, the trams enter a large room engulfed in a wrap-around screen for a simulator chase scene.

The film series’ cast members Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Luke Evans reprised their roles in new footage filmed for the attraction, which opened in 2015 in California and 2018 in Florida.

Universal’s official description for Fast & Furious – Supercharged reads:

Hold on tight for the Studio Tour’s grand finale.

Ride along with the all-star cast from the hit movies on an exhilarating high-speed chase that exceeds 120 miles per hour and catapults you into the high-stakes underworld of fast cars and international crime cartels.

You’ll be engulfed in a world of cutting-edge, hyper-realistic special effects, including 3D-HD imagery projected onto the world’s most expansive 360-degree screens!
