Relive the romance: ‘Pride & Prejudice’ back in movie theaters for 20th anniversary
Movie fans of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth can see “Pride & Prejudice” on the big screen in theaters again to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary.
For those wanting to hear words from Mr. Darcy, like, “You have bewitched me, body and soul,” in movie theaters again, Focus Features is bringing “Pride & Prejudice” back beginning April 20, 2025. Perhaps the Jane Austen fans in your group resonate with Mr. Darcy’s famous line, “My good opinion, once lost, is lost forever.” No matter your favorite quote or scene from the “Pride & Prejudice” movie, it can be seen again during a limited engagement in 2025.
Originally released in 2005 from director Joe Wright and writer Deborah Moggach, “Pride & Prejudice” grossed over $122 million at the global box office. The film’s cast includes Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen, Judi Dench, Donald Sutherland, Brenda Blethyn, Rosamund Pike, and Carey Mulligan in her film debut.
Adapted from Jane Austen’s classic work, “Pride & Prejudice” offers a modern receptivity to this classic love story. When Elizabeth Bennet (Knightley) meets Mr. Darcy (Mathew Macfadyen), she believes he is the last man on earth she could ever marry. Nevertheless, as their lives become tangled, she is enchanted by the person she swore to loathe due to his arrogance, conceit, and selfish disdain for other’s feelings. Of course, they both grow during the narrative to fall in love.
In addition to the theatrical release, the film’s 20th anniversary will be celebrated with a new line of merchandise. Focus is also partnering with Decca Records for the vinyl release of the Academy Award-nominated “Pride & Prejudice” soundtrack. This was composed by Dario Marianelli and performed by Jean-Yves Thibaudet. It is scheduled to be released later this spring.
