For the first time, Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood is decorated for the holidays!
Super Nintendo World in California is decorated for the holidays for the first time. Let’s take a look at the decorations themed to Mario and his friends.

Although Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios Hollywood in early 2023, 2024 marks the first year the new land decked its “halls” with some holiday décor. The garlands and Christmas trees found throughout the land all tie into the Nintendo theme with recognizable features from the iconic video games.
At the entrance to the land, you’ll see a wreath hanging below the Super Nintendo World sign. Notice the bells hung on the wreath, as they have eyes in the same fashion as other Mario iconography.

On the other side of the entrance sits snowman versions of Mario and Luigi in front of a Nintendo-fied Christmas tree. These cute snowman versions of the Super Mario Bros. don their (appropriate for the season) red & green hats and scarves.

Another entrance detail many guests might miss is displayed behind the snowmen and Christmas tree. Decorators took advantage of the year-round square structure by topping it with a bow, making it look like a giant wrapped present.

As you walk through the hallway to Super Nintendo World, be sure and turn around as soon as you exit the castle to see Princess Peach’s castle decked out with holiday wreaths, garlands, and lights for this special time of year.

Among traditional, spherical holiday ornaments, all the Christmas trees and garlands in the land feature recognizable Nintendo ornaments. This includes stars, mushrooms, and question blocks as seen in the video games. I especially appreciate the appropriate star tree toppers.

For a good, close-up look at these details, be sure and head inside the 1-Up Factory store in the land. The merchandise shop is full of garlands, wreaths, and mini-Christmas trees. While you’re there, you can peruse the seasonal Super Nintendo World holiday merch offerings, including “ugly” Christmas sweaters, sweatshirts, plush, headbands and more.

For an extra-special photo op, take a photo with your favorite Nintendo character in the character gazebo, currently decked out for the holidays. A photo here would certainly make an appropriate image for a holiday card.

Beyond the new holiday décor in Super Nintendo World, you’ll also want to check out Grinchmas festivities and holiday offerings in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, some of which can be seen in the videos below.
The holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood, including Super Nintendo World, is running now through Jan. 6, 2025. So, gather your friends and family and make unforgettable holiday memories at the original Universal Studios theme park.
