Six Flags, Cedar Fair rolls out season pass to all 42 parks following merge
The merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair is officially complete. What does that mean for the future of the combined company’s 42 parks?

Updated July 29, 2024; originally published July 1, 2024.
Six Flags and Cedar Fair merger now complete
Originally announced in November 2023, the entities formerly known as Cedar Fair Entertainment Company and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation merged to form a combined company going by the name of the latter, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. The merger was completed on July 1, 2024.
Following the merger, the combined company operates 27 amusement parks and 15 water parks across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. (See the full list of all 42 parks now under Six Flags’ domain.)

Park names won’t change
Six Flags stated all 42 parks “will retain their legacy branding with no changes to park names currently being planned or contemplated.” In other words, Carowinds won’t become “Six Flags Over Carowinds,” nor will Six Flags Magic Mountain drop its “Six Flags” verbiage, etc.

For the time being and for clarity’s sake, the company is referring to the parks previously categorized by their respective owners as “legacy Six Flags parks” and “legacy Six Flags parks,” which continue to dictate certain ticket options. All of those parks mentioned above are legacy Cedar Fair Parks.
Season pass to all 42 Six Flags parks
On July 29, 2024, Carowinds, Cedar Point, Dorney Park, Kings Dominion, Kings Island, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Michigan’s Adventure announced their 2025 season pass plans (not yet launched) will include an All-Park Passport add-on, granting admission to all 42 Six Flags parks.
The only version of the all-42-parks pass already live is the “Texas 2 Splash” 2025 pass — which grants admission to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and Schlitterbahn Galveston water parks — with the upgrade to include the All-Park Passport add-on. This provides admission to:
- all legacy Cedar Fair parks for the remainder of 2024
- all legacy Cedar Fair parks and all legacy Six Flags parks beginning Jan. 6, 2025
The 2025 Texas 2 Splash pass is $115 and the All-Park Passport add-on is $75, totaling $190. It’s launched its ticket sales July 28, 2024.
2024 season passes options included a Cedar Fair All-Park Passport (valid for all legacy Cedar Fair gates) for $245 and Six Flags Plus (valid for all legacy Six Flags parks) for $140. Schlitterbahn’s new option for 2025 grants the guest more parks for less money.
Additional add-ons, such as dining plans, will maintain the distinction between legacy Six Flags and legacy Cedar Fair parks, and will only be valid for whichever category your designated park belongs to.

For now, ticketing for most other parks remains the same, including season passes for multiple parks. If you currently have a 2024 season pass that grants admission to more than one Six Flags park, you can still only use that pass to enter legacy Six Flags parks, not any legacy Cedar Fair parks. The inverse is also true: if you currently have a 2024 Cedar Fair Gold or Prestige Pass with the All-Park Passport, that admission is only valid at legacy Cedar Fair parks, not legacy Six Flags parks.
Of course, single-park season passes are available at the parks too, with prices ranging from around $60-$135, depending on tiers and admission dates.
In the coming weeks, more parks will introduce their 2025 season pass options and we’ll update this page if necessary. Thanks to reader Michael McKay for bringing the Schlitterbahn update to our attention.
Peanuts, Looney Tunes, DC: “enhancing park offerings”
How will the new Six Flags manage the IP currently licensed to various parks? For years, Six Flags parks have featured Looney Tunes and DC Comics characters in themed attractions while Cedar Fair parks have integrated the Peanuts characters like Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
Is any character family now fair game for any park owned by the combined Six Flags company? It seems so, though no concrete plans have been announced about the subject for the future.

On this topic, Richard Zimmerman, president and CEO of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, said, “Our merger establishes a new Six Flags Entertainment Corporation with a highly diversified footprint and robust operating model, enhancing park offerings and performance though the complementary portfolio of attractive assets and intellectual property from each of Cedar Fair and the former Six Flags.” (Bold emphasis ours.)

Longtime visitors of Cedar Fair parks may remember other IP swaps and additions in the past. Many Cedar Fair parks were previously owned by Paramount, and during that tenure featured licenses with Paramount (and Paramount-adjacent) properties like Nickelodeon, Hanna-Barbera, “Top Gun,” “Star Trek,” and others.
New Six Flags logo
With the merge, Six Flags debuted a new corporate logo. The fresh look absorbs the former Cedar Fair font. Compare before and after:

“Superior level of joy”
One executive made a bold claim about the future of Six Flags parks. Following the completion of the merger, Selim Bassoul, executive chairman of the board of directors of Six Flags, said that the newly combined company “can deliver a superior level of joy and excitement that has yet to be experienced by regional park guests.”
Three weeks after merging, the company instated a chaperone policy at several parks and removed a surcharge fee at all legacy Six Flags parks.
As it was for Cedar Fair, the combined company’s headquarters will be in Charlotte, N.C., effectively making Carowinds the corporation’s home park.

Sorry, but the new logo looks terrible and bland.
Six flags is cursed. They are taboo.
