Baby Tucker debuted in the Walt Disney World attraction on April 7, 2025. Disney invited Attractions Magazine to the park to see Tucker the baby giraffe step onto the Harambe Wildlife Reserve — the setting of the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride — for the first time, right alongside his mother, Mara. Tucker was born in February.

Take a look at Tucker’s first steps onto the Harambe Wildlife Reserve:

Guests can be on the lookout for Tucker and Mara as they ride Kilimanjaro Safaris, the signature attraction of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which also counts lions, zebras, and elephants among its residents. Mara, who arrived to Animal Kingdom in 2015, previously gave birth to Jabari in 2019.

Tucker is a Masai giraffe, an endangered species with a global population of about 30,000. As belonging to an endangered species, Tucker is part of Disney’s participation in the Species Survival Plan (SSP) with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. He follows other recent births as Disney’s Animal Kingdom similarly part of the SSP, including that of baby Bakso, a Sumatran tiger cub guests can visit on Maharajah Jungle Trek in the park’s Asia section.

The Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month, having launched in 1995. Since then, DCF has contributed over $132 million to “protect wildlife, inspire action, and promote environmental resilience.” Guests can donate to DCF during any merchandise transaction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; just ask the cast member ringing up your purchase.
