‘Andor’ season 2 review: ‘Star Wars’ series concludes with slow pace
“Andor” season 2 is equal parts interesting and boring, with just enough excitement to make it worth a watch.
Warning: Mild spoilers ahead.

The second season of “Andor” has it all: adult themes, political intrigue, espionage, and unfortunately, slower moments that seem to crawl. The “Star Wars”-based show, while greatly improved from its first season, still suffers from what many fans observed before; while the overall story is exciting and interesting, the path through it can be slow and leave the viewer saying, “Get to the point already!”
Disney will release “Andor” season 2 in groups of three episodes at a time, with three, one-hour-long episodes coming out weekly for four weeks starting April 22, 2025, effectively a movie each Tuesday.

With a strong start, and an emotional connection with the Rebellion right off the bat, the premiere is attention-grabbing and sets up a fantastically dark Imperial political plot.
All throughout this season, we see amazing fashion. The costuming team really hit a home run this time. And second only to the beautiful costumes are the amazing sets and locations visited — fantastic architecture and furniture adorn the planets, with plot lines that highlight them: Chandrillan weddings, galas on Coruscant, and fashion designers on Ghorman.
While “Andor” season 2 showcases the beginnings of the organized Rebellion we know from “Star Wars,” the show also has very adult topics and definitely isn’t for young children. Spycraft can be much grittier than the adventures of the Jedi, it seems.

“Andor” season 2, episode 6 contains an infamous film/TV trope that really upset me. While I can’t go into details because of the large spoilers it involves, I was very disappointed to see representation taken away, especially since it didn’t further the plot and nothing came of it by the time the final credits rolled.
Fan favorite droid K-2SO only comes in for the last few episodes of the series, and while his few scenes are fantastic, I was left wanting much more of him.
Toward the end of the show, we get an amazing episode focused on the characters of Luthen (Stellan Skarsgård) and Kleya (Elizabeth Dulau). Dulau and her younger counterpart are fantastic and ended up being a huge standout of the show to me.
Unfortunately, true to the pace of rest of “Andor,” the season 2 finale is very exciting at first, but then slows down in its final half, leading directly into the events of the 2016 film “Rouge One: A Star Wars Story.” While it’s already dreadful knowing what comes next, the last part of the episode drags on a bit too long, making it feel extra depressing. But it also provides perhaps a small look at what may come next for some of the show’s original characters.
