Jack Skellington character’s new look at Disney theme parks for 2025
The mascot character costume for Jack Skellington from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” debuted a new head design at Disney theme parks ahead of the upcoming 2025 Halloween season.

Disney shared a sneak peek of the updated Jack Skellington costume in a short video posted to social media on May 12, 2025:
For reference, here is the previous design:

The previous costume’s “skull” mold left an opening for the performer’s mouth, allowing Jack to talk to park guests like a typical “face character” (in contrast to a “fur character,” or character performed by an actor completely concealed inside a costume, who doesn’t speak, like Goofy or Donald Duck, for example).
The new Jack Skellington costume is more of a “fur” design than “face,” covering the performer’s entire head in the mold of Jack’s skull, but still allowing for mobility of his mouth, as seen in Disney’s video above.
It’s customary for Disney to occasionally redesign the costumes of its higher-profile characters. In the past, the roll-out of such changes usually happened gradually across the company’s parks worldwide rather than all at once.

The previous Jack Skellington costume design had been in use since at least 2009.
Jack Skellington and Sally typically greet Disney theme park guests during the Halloween and holiday seasons at Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California. At the former, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off Aug. 15. At the latter, Halloween Time begins Aug. 22.
