Epic Universe construction update: Constellation Carousel ride vehicles

Construction teams added ride vehicles to Constellation Carousel at Epic Universe, each resembling a different animal, as seen in construction photos.

From high in the sky, bioreconstruct captured another round of aerial photos of Universal Epic Universe construction on Oct. 24, 2024. The new theme park will open May 22, 2025 in Orlando, Fla. (New to Epic Universe? Check out our beginner’s guide.)

Today, we’re checking in on progress of Celestial Park, the central hub of Epic Universe, where construction workers recently installed ride vehicles, infrastructure for landscaping, and themed ornamentation.

As a refresher, all guests will enter Epic Universe through Celestial Park — whether they approach from the park’s front gates or enter from Universal Helios Grand Hotel on the other side. Celestial Park will act as the starting point of our quests. From this hub, we’ll step through portals leading to each of the four other worlds of Epic Universe: Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.

From this perspective, the main entrance of Epic Universe is at the bottom center of the photo. Moving clockwise, there’s Nintendo, Dark Universe, Helios Grand Hotel, Wizarding World, and Isle of Berk, all of which radiate around Celestial Park in the middle.

Celestial Park also contains experiences of its own, including the Stardust Racers roller coaster, Constellation Carousel, and the only table-service restaurants in Epic Universe.

Contractors recently crafted a terraced structure at the edge of one of Celestial Park’s waterways near Constellation Carousel, adjacent to the Astronomica splash pad. Already populated with seven trees, this structure will eventually be entirely green, as seen in Universal’s virtual fly-through video of Celestial Park.

Nearby, construction workers installed ride vehicles inside the canopy of Constellation Carousel. We spy a rabbit and a lion!

Universal describes Constellation Carousel this way:

Climb aboard this imaginative carousel where the cosmic energy of the universe enables guests to ride the constellations themselves. Guest carriages include celestial lions, dragons, peacocks, and more. Each carriage turns 360 degrees while lifting riders up to 6 feet in the air. Celestial music and color dazzle your senses as you whirl and twirl together across the Milky Way.

Which constellation will you choose as your steed?

Elsewhere throughout Celestial Park, a few theming elements are coming together.

Construction teams recently removed scaffolding from the large comet outside of the entrance to Stardust Racers.

Workers put into place the marquee for the quick-service restaurant Pizza Moon a few weeks ago, but the photo below is bioreconstruct’s clearest view yet of the signage. Above the establishment’s name are the words “Cosmic Flavor.”

Progress continues on the lush landscaping and fountain elements on the side of Celestial Park nearest to Universal Helios Grand Hotel and The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant.
